2014 marks the 40th year for the popular Southern Oregon University Outdoor Program event
It was 40 years ago that Southern Oregon University first hosted their annual Ashland Ski Swap. The event, which is a fundraiser for the Southern Oregon University Outdoor Program, is scheduled for December 6th and 7th and is anticipated to be the largest Ski Swap in Southern Oregon. The sale will take place inside the Rogue River Room within the Stevenson Union at Southern Oregon University from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Ashland Ski Swap is a consignment sale featuring skis, snowboards, and other winter-related equipment. “We’re expecting over 2,000 items at this years swap,” said Will Volpert, owner of Indigo Creek Outfitters, the managing company of the 2014 Ashland Ski Swap.
One new aspect this year, according to Volpert, is online sale item registration software that will allow consignees to register their equipment ahead of time, which will save them both time and money. Those who utilize the online option will still need to drop items off at the Rogue River Room between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on December 4th and 5th, but they will receive a $1.00 per item discount for each item registered online (for those who do not register online, the cost per item is $2.00).
Those who volunteer at the event may attend the pre-sale from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on December 5th. Volunteers can sign up for time slots at http://www.AshlandSkiSwap.com. “This is the largest fundraiser of the year for us,” said Willie Long, head of the S.O.U. Outdoor Program. “We appreciate the support we’ve received from the community in the past and look forward to putting together another great community Ski Swap this year.”
