A popular town to visit in conjunction with a trip to Ashland is Jacksonville, Oregon. This quaint and cute town is a small version of Ashland and has some great stores, tons of history, and is home to the famous “Britt Festival”. There are also a handful of great wineries to stop and sample.

Jacksonville came to exist during a gold rush in 1851 and 1852. The town is named after Jackson Creek, which is a small stream running through the heart of town. Jacksonville, Oregon, is certainly worth the drive from Ashland. It only takes about 30 minutes and the drive winds you through a beautiful valley with rolling hills.
