Ashland, Oregon, is a crazy place on Halloween night. The downtown plaza fills with people wearing their Halloween costumes. It gets so busy that the Ashland Police Department normally close down the roads that run through downtown.
Southern Oregon University students begin making the trek from the dormitories around 5 pm. Before hand, the town throws a parade for the youngsters. Once the parade is done, the party starts and things begin to get wild.
Most bars in Ashland charge a hefty cover to get in. When the plaza starts to fill up, Lithia Park takes on the overflow. Despite the crowds, everyone normally stays pretty safe. The Ashland Police Department does a nice job of patrolling the area – allowing everyone to have fun but still keep control.
