Mount Ashland, located off of I-5 on the Siskiyou pass, is a popular skiing destination for those in Southern Oregon and Northern California. From Ashland to the lift line is only a 30 minute drive. The mountain is a small one, but offers a wide variety of terrain, which includes the famously steep “bowl”.
With four lifts, a small lodge, and friendly staff, Mount Ashland might give the impression of a “Mom and Pop” ski area. However, the operation is actually owned by the city of Ashland, which years ago rescued the Ski Area out of bankruptcy.
Those who visit Ashland, Oregon, in the winter should certainly bring their skis or snowboard to test out the slopes of Mount Ashland. Lift tickets are reasonably priced (mid-$30s) and the drive is not too far from town. Check out their website at www.mtashland.com for more details.
