Southern Oregon University’s Outdoor Program is one of the best Outdoor Programs in the country. With a range of gear and equipment to get you on a rock face, shredding the steeps, or floating on a river, the Outdoor Program has what you need to get outside. Their knowledgeable staff will even point you in the right direction if you are looking for local knowledge regarding anything outside.
One of the biggest outdoor gear events in Southern Oregon is the Ski Swap, hosted by the Outdoor Program each Fall. Thousands of new and used skis, snowboards, and winter clothing items are part of the largest ski swap in Southern Oregon.
The Outdoor Program leads many trips for students over the course of the year. Their Mountaineering Series takes students to Mount Ashland, Mount McGloughlin, and other Southern Oregon snow-capped peaks. Their Whitewater Series gets students on the famed Rogue River, Northern California’s Lower Klamath, and the beautiful North Umpqua. An indoor climbing gym is run through the Outdoor Program as well and is located on campus.
