Unbeknownst to much of the population outside of Southern Oregon University’s student community, CASE coffee Roasters on Siskiyou Boulevard directly across from the university is well worth a stop. This artsy hole-in-the-wall shop is reminiscent of European cafes, with pleasant outdoor seating in front and on the side and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Owned by Tim and Katie Case, they are often in and very knowledgeable about the art of brewing coffee and roasting beans.
Their menu offers standards such as cappuccinos and mochas, but expect it to be made with quality and an artfully finished design in the whipped cream. If a standard cup of Joe is what your morning is joensing for, it will be made to order in their special Hario V60 glass drippers. The freshness is unmatched and you can watch them make it for you, right there. In addition to the standout espresso drinks, fresh roasted beans and order fresh coffee, case offers delectable Panini’s on organic sunstone foccacia bread with an organic side salad. Especially delicious is their Goat cheese, pesto and tomato Panini.
If all this isn’t enough, CASE has Mate tea, originating in South America that is served in 16-ounce self-steeping teapots. It’s a great coffee substitute with a kick out caffeine, without the jitters. If you have a sweet tooth, have some honey with it!
