Crater Lake National ParkVISIT CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK
Crater Lake has inspired people for thousands of years. No place else on earth combines a deep, pure lake, so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs, almost two thousand feet high; two picturesque islands; and a violent volcanic past. It is a place of immeasurable beauty, and an outstanding outdoor laboratory and classroom.

Cool Fact: The depth of Crater Lake was first measured in 1886 with a simple sounding machine that consisted of a crank and a spool of piano wire. Those first measurements showed the lake to be 1,996 feet deep – not far off from the depth of 1,943 feet that was measured with high tech equipment in 2000!

Oregon Caves National MonumentGO SPELUNKING AT OREGON CAVES NATIONAL MONUMENT
Nestled deep inside the Siskiyou Mountains, the caves at Oregon Caves National Monument formed as rainwater from the ancient forest above dissolved the surrounding marble and created one of the world’s few marble caves. The highly complex geology found on the Monument contributes to the unusual and rare plants and animals found nowhere else but here. Experience the extensively decorated and adventurous “Marble Halls of Oregon.”

Cool Fact: The stream that comes out of the entrance of the cave is a tributary to a watershed that empties into the Pacific Ocean. There are no human-made obstructions that would prevent salmon migration, which makes this the only cave in the National Park Service with an unobstructed link to the ocean.

Klamath Falls Birding Trails
Imagine millions of geese swirling as far as the eye can see over vast wetlands, whose silhouettes form astonishing patterns against snowy mountain vistas. Or marvel at the “water dance” of courting grebes as they run in tandem across sparkling lakes…. The Klamath Basin is renowned for its wide diversity and abundance of bird life due to its diverse habitats including marshes, open water, coniferous forest, Juniper woodlands, oak-chaparral, sagebrush-grasslands, grassy meadow and rocky cliffs.
