Nugget Falls on the Rogue River is one of two class IV rapids on the “Nugget-Powerhouse” stretch. It is a very short rapid with a quick drop that leads to a hole at the bottom. It’s also a very popular fishing area because the river funnels into a narrow channel.
The rapid in a raft is a lot of fun and, although it looks like a big drop, it is a pretty smooth run. The three miles above Nugget, where most people put in, features many class II and III rapids, which allows beginners the chance to learn how to paddle before tackling the more difficult rapids.
