The Playwright, located at 258 A Street (the old “Lela’s” restaurant site), opened on July 1st, 2011 and seeks to be a community hub within the lively Railroad District of Ashland, Oregon. Influenced greatly by pubs and inns of Ireland and the British Isles, The Playwright is owned and operated by Peter and Kelli and they bring a depth of restaurant experience to their new business.

Entering The Playwright visitors will find comfort in their surroundings. Dark wood floors and black and white decor lend a hand to creating a subdued and classy feel. The openness of the room is socially inviting and one can imagine the electrifying atmosphere that will certainly evolve around the large screen television, which Peter claims will be playing a lot more rugby and soccer matches than basketball or American football games. And for this place that sounds about right.
